Post Summer Skin

Summer is now over, and we have the Autumn lurking around the corner. How does your skin look now? Is the summertime "good living" now coming to haunt you? If  you are anything like me, I know when my skin is ready for a freshen up and liven up!  Those dead skin cells just sitting on the skin surface-  making it appear dull, lifeless and make up just doesnt sit right.. you know the feeling.

Let us not delay... we need to take immediate action especially if you are like me.. in my 40's!!

Please read on for my tips on achieving the flawless skin we all crave ....

1. Make sure you daily facial cleanser contains a small amount of Glycolic Acid, this will gently exfoliate and remove dead cell build up.
2. Use a 5% Glycolic treatment lotion, this stays on the skin to resurface and brighten the complexion.
3. Book in for a professional strength Glycolic Peel. This works in the deeper layers of the skin to produce and immediate lightening, brightening and smoothing effect. If you can have a course of  three peels taken weekly - even better!!

So that's it!  It is not difficult, and does not take too much effort to achieve. It's just making sure you use the correct products and have the most effective treatments. The Only Yourx Skin Peels do not cause the skin to peel or go red, just beautiful resutls instantly.

Good luck! I would love to hear from anybody who completes this program, feedback is always so helpful!

My top tips for "tip top skin"

Having a beautiful skin for most of us does not come naturally. We need to work at it from a young age. My mum taught me to look after my skin at the age of 12. We did a simple cleanse, tone, moisturise routine. My mum was totally against sunbathing and had a beautiful skin. She was an excellent role model for me. So my beauty routine started at a very young age - so all you mums out there with daughters get teaching and lead by example..

So here we go my personal top tips for an exceptional skin:

1) Start young
2) Keep it simple
3) Keep it regular
4) NEVER skip your night time routine
5) Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate . I use a double moisture system its essential to keep skin super hydrated, this helps lines and wrinkles look less visible. I use a gel hydrator which pulls water between cells and a cream moisturiser to lock it all in.
6) Protect, Protect, Protect from the sun. Use a good SPF30 daily underneath your make-up. Make sure it protects from UVA & UVB rays.
7) When needed use a specaility serum or booster for a a skin concern or condition, For example I use a Firming Serum containing an excellent Botox alternative to stop sagging skin and lines a wrinkles - I am in my 40's now!!
8) Take regular in salon facials. I take a light Enzyme Peel every two weeks with hot towels to remove dead cell build up. I also have a slightly stronger skin peel when I feel my skin requires it, which is usually every 4-6 weeks.
9) Occasionally I will add a light Glycolic Acid cream to my home care program to gently resurface and brighten the skin when needed.
10) Above all be aware of your skins needs. Our skin changes as we age, it also changes season to season. You may need a lighter cream in the summer and something heavier in the winter. At times like this I will have my skin care Custom Blended  so I get exactly the correct formula for me... this is a truly luxurious addition to my program.

Its all about Rosacea.

Rosacea - all about the condition and what can be done

Rosacea is a progressive disease. It is not the same as Acne but can be present at the same time as Acne. The disease was originally names Acne Rosaeca, that name is no longer considered correct. Many aspects of Rosacea mimic the characteristics of Acne, it is an completely different condition. Rosacea differs in that there is no micocomedone activity present.

Individuals who are pre-disposed to developing Rosacea usually show signs early on in life and its all about keeping the condition under control. Skin care professionals are seeing an increase in the amount of Rosacea cases, and it seems to be prevalent in the "40" plus age.

It is not know exactly what causes Rosacea, however, there are many theories. The most common is that the condition is caused by the Demodex Mite. Others are that it is related to gastrointestinal disease, but no theories are proven.

There are three stages of Rosaacea.Stage one, this is when the skin flushes when drinking alcohol or eating spicy food. This does not guarantee that this person will go on to develop full blown Rosacea but precautions must be taken to control the disease. The person my have persistent redness lasting for hours or days at a time. Stage two, person will show signs of stage one along with the appearance of papules and pustules, please remember that these are not actual Acne lesions. Stage three, it is not common for the sufferer to go on to develop stage three and this is rare, the person goes on to develop facial deformities ( the red nose often associated with drinkers). At this stage it can even affect the eye.

The most effective ingredients for the treatment of Rosacea are Vitamin K and Vitmain C. It is also important that the sufferer keeps the skin cool so an SPF30 for senstive skin is best, this will contain no chemicals, colourings or fragrance which can irritate Rosacea.

Good luck with the treatment as it does work and again remember it there is no cure for Rosacea its all about keeping it under control
